Position Summary:

This position will complete the necessary tasks associated with a "concept to finish" environment in taking approved designs, concepts, drawings, or specifications to reality in a finished product on CNC milling equipment and manufacturing equipment. Programming, automation, tool selection, set up, machine program management, first piece validation and establishing product quality monitoring are all critical tasks prior to hand off to production for volume manufacturing.

This individual will partner with engineers, and machinists to design/develop manufacturing cells to facilitate high volume production. Machining assignments will include programming, fixture design, automation, process planning and operation support.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Self-motivated team builder with strong multitasking, analytical thinking, problem solving and leadership skills.
  • Oversee all projects related to production support, automation design and machine setups/cells geared towards high volume production.
  • Recommend, design, and fabricate work holding devices, fixtures, and Automation integration.
  • Strong knowledge of Solidworks and advanced CAD/CAM software. Surfcam a plus!
  • Possess an in-depth knowledge of machine setup, operation, and part inspection.
  • Program, setup and adjust a broad range of CNC machines as needed to produce products and assure dimensional conformance.
  • Utilize machine monitoring software to ID potential issues and maximize uptime.
  • Manage all fixture and spare part production.
  • Reading, creating, and verifying part drawings utilizing GD&T best practices.
  • Generate accurate CAD drawings and CNC programs from Models and/or complex and involved sectionalized drawings.
  • Specify and select proper tooling for HAAS, FADAL and DMG-MORI CNC machining centers or finishing equipment such as hot stamping, embedding, inspecting, or packing lines.
  • Set up and oversee the management of machine programs across the production floor and their selection used in production to ensure best yield possible.
  • Qualify dimensions by means of inspection with measurement instruments.
  • Must work independently, prioritize multiple tasks and projects.
  • Assist in normal production by operating equipment as directed.
  • Assist in Level 3 training validation for manufacturing operators.

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • High School or GED Diploma required.
  • Technical School or College Degree, a plus
  • 10 to 15 years' experience as a Manual and CNC Machinist
  • 10 to 15 years' experience in CNC Programming
  • Experience in G & M Code programming and setting up 3 & 4 - axis Vertical and Horizontal Machining Centers
  • Experience with Solidworks, SurfCam, ArtCam and AutoCad or similar.
  • CAD CAM experience is a must.
  • Experience with HAAS, Siemens, Fanuc, and Mitsubishi CNC controllers
  • Probing and Macro writing experience
  • Good working knowledge and understanding of tooling and proper usage, as well as speed & feed calculation. Materials - Aluminum, Stainless, Plastics, and Steel
  • Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T)
  • Very strong problems solving skills.
  • Analytical thinker with strong math skills
  • Task oriented, ability to prioritize workload.

Physical Qualifications and Work Environment:

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to sustain physical work for 8+ hours per day including the following:
    • Standing for 8+ hours per day
    • Reaching and pulling
    • Sight
    • Walking through shop
    • Bending, climbing and crouching.
  • Shop noise levels are such that protective ear-coverings are recommended
